Pune: Baner, Balewadi Residents Move Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum Against MSEDCL Over Recurring Outages
Pune, 1st July 2026: Alleging persistent power outages and voltage fluctuations despite repeated complaints, five housing societies and seven individual consumers from Baner and Balewadi have approached the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF) against the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
The petitioners claimed that MSEDCL failed to respond to their written representations, prompting them to seek the forum’s intervention. Residents said the two localities have been grappling with frequent power interruptions and voltage fluctuations for the past several months. While some housing societies witnessed outages lasting more than eight hours on certain days in May, others said the disruptions have continued since April.
In their plea, the complainants have sought directions to MSEDCL to investigate the recurring supply failures and submit details of every interruption, including its cause, duration and the time taken to restore electricity. They have also sought measures to improve the reliability of power supply and compensation for the inconvenience caused.
Residents also pointed to poor maintenance of overhead power lines, alleging that sagging wires passing through open plots frequently lead to faults and supply disruptions.
