Pune: Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Heroically Save Nepali Youth In Suicide Attempt

Katraj, 9th October 2023: A Nepali youth’s life was dramatically saved by the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police after he attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a building in the Ambegaon Pathar area. The incident occurred on Thursday at 9 a.m., and the police managed to catch the young man with a hand net just as he jumped, before firemen could spread a safety net below.

The rescue operation was conducted under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad and Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Kadam. Kadam, who was on leave at the time, rushed to the scene after being alerted by local residents. “The young man’s hand and leg were slightly injured, but his life was saved,” said Kadam.

The Nepali youth, who had recently been married, was working as a janitor in the Sinhagad College premises. Other members of his family also work as janitors in nearby buildings. According to his family, he had been behaving strangely since his marriage just seven days ago. On the day of the incident, he suddenly climbed to the fourth floor of a building, prompting residents to contact the police.

The police’s quick and effective response has been widely praised.
