Pune: BJP to Issue Show-Cause Notices to 100 Corporators for Skipping Poll Campaign Launch
Pune, 13 October 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to issue show-cause notices to around 100 corporators for remaining absent from the launch of its campaign for the Pune Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies elections, despite being informed about the event.
BJP state president Ravindra Chavan has taken serious note of the absence, and the corporators will be asked to explain their failure to attend the programme.
The campaign for the two constituencies was recently launched in the presence of Chavan. Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and party MLAs were among those present.
However, several newly elected corporators reportedly did not take the event seriously and failed to attend despite being informed. After noticing the large number of absentees, BJP group leader in the civic body Ganesh Bidkar directed that the names of those present be recorded. He personally went around the hall to verify attendance.
The absent corporators will now have to explain their absence to the party, which has viewed the matter seriously.
