Pune, January 18, 2021: In life, art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment. At its essence, art is a healing process for many. While some realise their inclination at an early age, some might stumble upon it later on in their life. Such is the story of a newly-born artist Manjiri Kelkar.
Who says life stops after 50? Manjiri is a Pune based mother and an artist. She stumbled upon her passion for art by chance and since, has created more than fifty paintings in oil, acrylic and mixed media on canvas. Manjiri believes art encompasses truth, beauty and goodness and this fits in very well with her life values. She pours her heart and soul into her painting and believes her artwork is like a prayer and contains a part of herself. This prayer or vibration is what moves the observer and heals the soul. For this reason, she feels, art must be shared with more and more people.
She is holding a one-day art exhibition on 23rd January at Raja Ravi Verma Art Gallery, Opposite Mahatma Phule Museum on Ghole road. The timing of the exhibition will be from 4 pm-8 pm. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Snehal Pradhan, former Indian women’s cricket team member, now well known for her YouTube channel ‘Cricket With Snehal’.
Every artist draws inspiration from different things. For Manjiri, she finds inspiration from nature and derives her art from beautiful sunsets, sandy beaches, the colours of the ocean, lush greenery, the blues of the skies and the white clouds. This inspiration provides her with the freedom to express without constraint onto the canvas through oil or acrylic colours as well as mixed media using many layers and textures. She says nothing brings her more joy than seeing people respond to her art. That is her ultimate recognition.
