Pune: Blood, Plasma Donation Appeal Receives Overwhelming Response

Pune, 19 April 2021: The appeal by the Maharashtra State government for blood and plasma donation received an overwhelming response from Pune city. Within a fortnight 1,240 blood bags were collected while through the 600 plasma donors lives of 1,500 patients were saved.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Jankalyan Samiti and Samarth Bharat Abhiyaan conducted blood donation camps across the city. It helped to collect the 1,240 blood bags.

Twelve blood banks of the city helped to conduct the blood donation camps. Responding to the appeal made by the state, several Ganesh Mandals, NGOs, temple trustees and various other organisations came forward. It also included the members of political parties.

Samarth Bharat coordinator Sachin Bhosale and sub-coordinator Ravi Shinganpurkar appealed to the citizens to participate in such camps as the need for blood and plasma might increase in the coming days.

“We are following all the rules laid down by the Centre and State while conducting the donation camps”, he said.

Plasma donation saved over 1,500 lives

For serious corona patients, plasma is proving to be a blessing. To spread awareness about this RSS, Samarth Bharat, Jankalyan Samiti will conduct various awareness programmes. So far over 600 plasma donors have donated the plasma which has helped the lives of over 1,500 patients.
