Pune: Bombay HC Grants Bail to Sheetal Tejwani, Accused in Mundhwa Land Deal Case; Cites Role as Single Mother
Mumbai/Pune, 9th June 2026 : The Bombay High Court on Monday granted bail to Sheetal Tejwani, one of the accused in the alleged fraudulent sale of government land in Pune’s Mundhwa area involving Rajya Sabha MP Parth Pawar, noting that she is a single mother of three minor children and has been in judicial custody for over six months.
Tejwani, who has been lodged in Yerawada Central Jail since December 3, 2025, is expected to be released after complying with the bail conditions laid down by the court.
The case pertains to the controversial transfer of 41 acres of Mahar Watan land in Mundhwa, a category of land historically linked to hereditary service rights and subject to legal restrictions on ownership and transfer. The transaction has attracted political attention as the purchaser, Amadea Enterprises LLP, is linked to son of deputy CM Snetra Pawar, Parth Pawar, a major stakeholder in the firm.
Tejwani is facing three criminal cases registered by Pune police. Two of these, lodged at Khadak and Bavdhan police stations, relate to the alleged illegal sale of the disputed land parcel.
According to investigators, 272 purported landholders sold the property to Amadea Enterprises LLP through Tejwani, who acted as their power-of-attorney holder during the transaction.
Appearing for Tejwani, her counsel argued that her role was limited to executing documents and submitting the necessary application, and that she had no involvement in decisions taken by revenue authorities regarding the land.
Granting relief, Justice Ashwin D Bhobe observed that the prosecution’s case is largely based on documentary evidence, most of which is already in the custody of investigating agencies. The court also noted that there were no allegations that Tejwani had failed to cooperate with the investigation.
Considering the nature of the evidence, the stage of the investigation and her personal circumstances, including her responsibility as the sole caregiver of three minor children, the court held that her continued incarceration was not necessary pending trial.
The High Court directed Tejwani to furnish a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh and provide one or two sureties within two weeks as part of the bail conditions.
