Pune: Bopdev Ghat Murder Case Solved After Eight Days By Crime Branch

Pune, 19th December 2022: Crime Branch Unit One of Pune city police has arrested a man who killed his drunken friend by hitting a stone on his head. The said incident happened eight days ago at Bopdev Ghat.

The arrested person has been identified as Kiran Bhagwat Thorat (26), a resident of Rajiv Gandhinagar in Bibwewadi. The name of the deceased person is Dhananjay Gaikwad.

 

Policeman Ajay Thorat received information that the accused was in Dange Chowk. Accordingly, the team, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Bhosale, detained Kiran. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime of murder.

According to police, accused Kiran had taken some amount from Dhananjay. There was a dispute between them over the return of that amount. Dhananjay was threatening to kill Kiran. On 12th December, Dhananjay went to Kiran’s house while he was drunk. Dhananjay abused his mother along with Kiran.

After that, Kiran took him to Bopdev Ghat saying that he would pay him and will also give him alcohol. Drunk Dhananjay threatened to burn Kiran and his three-month-old son alive. Kiran confessed to killing Dhananjay by hitting a stone on his head out of the same anger.

The investigation team included API Ashish Kavathekar, Sub Inspector Sunil Kulkarni, and Ajay Thorat, Amol Pawar, Imran Sheikh, Rahul Makhare, Vitthal Salunkhe, Nilesh Sable.
