Pune boy wins LEGO Championship Season-2 held at Landmark

Yashwardhan Thakur, 9-year-old boy from Pune won the LEGO Championship season -2 held at Landmark this Sunday. Enticed upon winning this challenge, Yashwardhan won first prize of a dream trip to LEGOLAND Malaysia.

Speaking on this association, Ms Namita Pant, Head of Marketing, Trent says “We’ve always believed in creating platforms for children to learn, discover creative ideas and enhance their skills. The return of the LEGO Championship is a result of successful association and overwhelming response garnered last season. The response and participation has been phenomenal this year.”

With kids enamored by social media, technology and gadgets, the importance of play- building, playing a sport, or enjoying a board game has become increasingly less prevalent. In order to encourage, creativity, tinkering and exploration, Landmark had taken this initiative to reinstate LEGO in the minds of young children and pre-teens.  .It is the LEGO philosophy of ‘Good quality play’ enriching a child’s life and being the key element in children’s growth and development leading to creative ideas and expression.

Shedding light on this challenge, Mr.Victor Plange, Regional Marketing Manager of LEGO Singapore Pte Ltd., “We aim to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow and bring the value of play in to children’s lives.  Through this LEGO challenge, we hope to inspire young children to build and enjoy expressing themselves creatively.”

Details of the LEGO Championship Season II – PAN India: The competition was conducted for children between the age group 5-10 years in leading Landmark stores in Bangalore(Orion Mall, Forum Mall, Commercial Mall)Hyderabad (Somajiguda) Vashi (Ampa Mall), Chennai and Pune(Season Day). The first round of the challenge began with 60 seconds given to a child to build the tallest tower from the LEGO bricks available. The height of the tallest tower built was the deciding factor in selecting the winner. Final participants got 180 seconds to build the tallest tower and the hunt for the ultimate LEGO builders which concluded on the 18th December 2016.

Registrations began on 10th November 2016, customers got to register in-store for the initial rounds of LEGO Challenge in stores. Knockout rounds took place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only.
