Pune: BRT Route Is Essential For City Development And Transport Improvement: Om Prakash Bakoria

Pune, 10th February 2023: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) Chairman and Managing Director Om Prakash Bakoria informed that bus rapid transit (BRT) is necessary for the development of the city and to improve public transport and PMPML will focus on this BRT empowerment. He was speaking after a 2-day workshop on BRT.

A 2-day workshop was organized by PMPML on February 9 and 10, 2023 to identify plans for future expansion of the existing BRTS network and to plan various solutions to improve the BRT network between Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad city.

The workshop was organized at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Hall, Ghole Road, with the technical support of the city’s NGO premises, Save Pune Traffic Movement, Center for Environment Education (CEE), urban transport expert Pranjali Deshpande and Yogesh Dandekar of Sarg Design Studio.

On this occasion, office bearers of local organizations, traffic experts, PMPML, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations, and Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Department officers/employees were present.

The BRT corridor in Pune serves more than four lakh passengers every day. All the experts present expressed the opinion that the BRT network can be expanded if it is expanded. Transport experts on the occasion opined that some corridors need to be completed to ensure connectivity with the existing Pimpri-Chinchwad corridor. The participating experts made suggestions regarding expectations from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations.
