Pune Bus Rape Case: Accused’s Medical Test Confirms Sexual Ability, DNA Test Next

Swargate, 2nd March 2025: The Pune Police have recorded the statement of Dattatray Gade, who was arrested for allegedly raping a young woman in a Shivshahi bus at Swargate ST bus stand. Authorities have also conducted a sexual ability test at Sassoon Hospital, which has returned positive, sources confirmed. The next step in the investigation involves Gade’s DNA test.
Accused Has Multiple Criminal Cases Against Him
The shocking incident took place on February 25 when Gade, posing as an ST staff member, misled the victim and allegedly raped her in the bus before fleeing the scene. Using technical surveillance, police traced him to his native Gunat village in Shirur taluka and arrested him late on Friday night.
Gade is a habitual offender, with six cases already registered against him in Pune rural, Pune city, and Ahilyanagar.
Police Custody and Medical Examination
Gade was produced in court and remanded to police custody until March 12. Investigators have recorded his statement and subjected him to medical tests at Sassoon Hospital.
Since the sexual ability test confirmed positive results, police have now moved to DNA analysis. Blood and hair samples collected from the bus have been sent to a forensic laboratory for further examination.
Forensic Investigation Underway
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has instructed a thorough probe into the case. A joint team from the Crime Branch and Swargate Police Station is leading the investigation.
Meanwhile, forensic experts have inspected the bus, conducted a panchnama, and sent the vehicle for detailed forensic examination.
Police believe that crucial evidence may emerge from the forensic reports, and the investigation is ongoing.
