Wakad, 1st December 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested a 33-year-old cab driver, Aniket Kamble, from Thergaon for allegedly murdering his partner and setting her body on fire in Dhoki, Dharashiv district, on November 26.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman from Wakad, had reportedly been pressuring Kamble to marry her, which investigators say led to the fatal confrontation.

A Wakad police team, led by Senior Inspector Shatrughna Mali, apprehended Kamble in Thergaon before handing him over to the Dhoki police for further investigation.

Inspector Mali explained, “The victim’s relatives filed a missing person report on November 26 after she did not return home. Our team, under API Ambarish Deshmukh, reviewed CCTV footage showing her heading to her son’s school. The clips captured her glancing back twice before entering the premises, and a cab’s movement was noted in the area.”

According to the investigation, the two had been in a relationship for several years despite both being married. “Kamble’s partner had been pressuring him for marriage, but he wanted to end the relationship,” Mali said.

API Deshmukh detailed the sequence of events leading to the crime: “After dropping her son at school on November 26, she met Kamble. He gave her new clothes and promised to take her to his native village in Dharashiv. In the early hours of November 27, near Dhoki, he allegedly throttled her and struck her with an iron pipe inside the cab.”

The officer added that Kamble then poured petrol on the victim and set her body on fire. Dhoki police discovered her partially burnt body on November 27 and registered a murder case immediately. “Kamble has been handed over to Dhoki police for ongoing investigations,” Deshmukh said.

The arrest has sparked widespread concern, highlighting the dangers of domestic disputes escalating into violent crimes.
