Pune: Camp Joshila Organized At INS Shivaji

Lonavala, 20th January 2023: An outdoor training camp named ‘Joshila’ was conducted at INS Shivaji, the premier technical training institute of the Indian Navy at Lonavala from 17-19 Jan 23. A total of 90 trainees participated in the camp which included 88 Indian and one trainee each from Ghana and Tanzania. The camp was aimed at battle hardening the young trainees to overcome the rigours of a challenging military life and to develop the spirit of camaraderie and Esprit-de-corps. During the camp, the trainees were exposed to survival in challenging conditions requiring increased mental conditioning and physical endurance. The camp activities included route march of 08 km, night navigation exercise, 16 km cross country trek to Umberkhind memorial, tent pitching and various troop games.

Commanding Officer, INS Shivaji exhorted the trainees to brace up for the future challenges and expressed satisfaction at the spirit and enthusiasm exhibited by the trainees in spite of difficult weather conditions. Indian Navy continues to be the preferred training partner of friendly foreign countries in the Indian Ocean Region.
