Pune: Candle March Held in Mohammadwadi After Biker Hamza Sarkar’s Death, Residents Seek Justice

Pune, 26th September 2026: A candle march was organised at Raheja Vista Circle in Mohammadwadi on Saturday evening following the death of 25-year-old biker Hamza Sarkar in a road accident near Raheja Reserve. Residents of Mohammadwadi and Undri, along with Hamza’s family members and friends, participated in the march and sought justice while demanding urgent measures to improve road safety in the area.

The march was organised by the Sikh Helpline Foundation and the Undri Pisoli Forum. Participants gathered with candles and photographs of Hamza before walking through the area, paying tribute to him and raising concerns about road conditions and civic infrastructure.

The gathering also brought renewed attention to complaints raised by residents regarding road safety in the Mohammadwadi-Undri area. Participants said preventive measures were needed to avoid similar fatal accidents in the future.

Hamza’s Friends Seek Justice

Hamza’s friends attended the march and said they would continue seeking justice for their friend. They said that despite being few in number, they would continue to raise their voices and pursue the matter.

The friends said Hamza’s death had deeply affected those who knew him. They said the gathering was intended not only to pay tribute to him but also to seek accountability and safer conditions for other road users.

They urged the authorities to take residents’ concerns seriously and implement measures to prevent similar incidents.

Residents Raise Concerns Over Mohammadwadi-Undri Roads

Residents participating in the march said the accident had once again highlighted the need for better road infrastructure in Mohammadwadi and Undri.

Mohsin Hasan Shaikh said residents had repeatedly raised concerns about road safety in the area and that Hamza’s death had made the issue more urgent. He stressed the need for authorities to examine problematic stretches and address deficiencies that could pose risks to motorists and pedestrians.

Residents said road safety should not become a priority only after a fatal accident. They called for preventive measures, proper road maintenance and attention to locations where commuters face difficulties.

Sikh Helpline Foundation Calls for Concrete Action

Raj Singh of the Sikh Helpline Foundation also participated in the candle march and raised concerns about road safety and civic infrastructure.

According to the organisers, the march was intended to bring residents together and draw the attention of authorities to problems faced by commuters in the area. Singh called for concrete action rather than temporary responses following accidents.

The organisers said Hamza’s death should prompt the concerned authorities to review road conditions and identify measures needed to make the area safer.

Hamza’s Sister Seeks Justice

Hamza’s sister, who participated in the march, spoke about the family’s loss and sought justice following his death.

The family said the loss had caused immense emotional distress and urged the authorities to ensure that the incident was taken seriously. She also appealed for measures to prevent other families from experiencing a similar tragedy.
