Undri, 11th January 2025: Today, a somber candlelight vigil was held opposite Nyati Estate in memory of Dr. Pranali Tanmay Date, a beloved resident of Urban Nest Society who lost her life in a road accident near Dhruv School, Undri, just days ago.

Organized by the MURWD Foundation, the event drew members of the local community who came together to mourn the untimely loss of Dr. Date and to raise awareness about the urgent need for safer roads and improved living conditions in the area.

The vigil began at sunset, with participants lighting candles in a poignant tribute to Dr. Date’s life and legacy. Many carried handwritten messages and flowers as they stood in solidarity with her grieving family.

“We all came together tonight because we refuse to accept the status quo. We want safer roads, better infrastructure, and a community where such tragedies no longer happen”, a resident said.

MURWD Foundation emphasized the importance of community action in creating change:
“This tragedy is a stark reminder that we must prioritize road safety and infrastructure in Undri. Let us not wait for another loss to take action. Together, we can work towards a safer environment for everyone.”

Participants expressed their determination to push for better traffic management, improved pedestrian safety measures, and awareness campaigns to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.

The vigil was marked by a shared commitment to honor Dr. Date’s memory not just with words, but with meaningful actions. Attendees were urged to remain engaged in community initiatives aimed at addressing safety concerns in Undri and the surrounding areas.

“In Dr. Pranali’s memory, let’s not just light candles. Let’s ignite the change we need—change that will save lives and make our streets safer for everyone”, another resident added.

As the candles flickered in the evening breeze, the collective resolve of the community to advocate for safer roads shone brightly.
