Pune: Car Stunt Video Goes Viral in Pimpri Chinchwad; ‘Fast and Furious’ Style Drift Leaves Police Unaware

Ravet, 17th April 2025: A shocking video from Pimpri Chinchwad’s Ravet area is going viral, showing two individuals performing drifting stunts in Mahindra Thar cars on an open ground. Shockingly, the ground is owned by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The cars are being driven rashly and drifting, leaving people in the area stunned due to the excessive dust and noise.

This incident follows a recent racing controversy in Pune, where two SUVs—a Mahindra Thar and a Mahindra Scorpio—were caught recklessly racing inside the gated Nyati Elan society in Wagholi. The vehicles were speeding dangerously on narrow internal roads, putting residents and children at risk. When residents intervened, the drivers responded with verbal abuse and threats, including death threats, claiming immunity from police action. Pune Police subsequently took action against them.

A similar situation is unfolding in Pimpri Chinchwad, where the police were initially unaware of the stunt until the video went viral. Reckless driving and violations of traffic rules are considered the ‘norm’ in the city by many residents, as traffic regulations are frequently ignored. However, the viral drifting video has raised serious concerns about law and order in the city.

Senior Police Inspector Nitin Phatangare, in charge of Ravet Police Station, told Punekar News, “The incident occurred on the ground near Dmart. We are currently gathering all details and investigating. Once the culprits are identified, action will be taken and a case registered soon.”
