Pune Caretaker Arrested for Stealing Jewellery Worth Rs 8.70 Lakh in Bibvewadi
Bibvewadi, 7th January 2025: Pune Police have arrested a caretaker woman for stealing jewellery. Gold ornaments worth Rs 8.70 lakh were recovered from the suspect. The arrested woman has been identified as Gayatri Sunil Hatekar (24), a resident of Dhankawadi.
The incident occurred in November when a woman filed a complaint at Bibvewadi Police Station. The complainant’s mother, who lives in the Bibvewadi area, reported that 25 tolas of jewellery had been stolen from her bungalow. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused, who worked as a caretaker for the complainant’s mother, had taken advantage of unattended moments to steal jewellery from the cupboard.
Acting on information received by Police Sub-Inspector Shashank Jadhav, the police took the suspect into custody. During interrogation, she confessed to the theft. Of the stolen items, a gold necklace worth Rs 8.5 lakh has been recovered.
