Pune: Case Registered Against Baburao Chandere as Assault Video Goes Viral

Bavdhan, 26th January 2025: A case has been filed against Baburao Chandere, former Standing Committee Chairman of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), for allegedly assaulting a man in Susgaon. Chandere, known to be a close associate of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is facing serious allegations after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The complainant, Shankar Jadhav, lodged the case at the Bavdhan police station, Pimpri Chinchwad police, following the altercation on Saturday afternoon.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 12:00 pm in Susgaon when Chandere was reportedly overseeing digging work in the area. During this time, complainant Prashant Jadhav approached Chandere to discuss the matter.
The discussion escalated, with Chandere allegedly retorting to Jadhav, “Tu koan vicharnara” (Who are you to ask?). Subsequently, Chandere and an individual accompanying him allegedly assaulted Jadhav. The physical altercation, captured on video, shows one of Chandere’s associates pushing another person.
The complaint filed by Shankar Jadhav accuses Chandere and his companion of physical assault. The video of the incident has since gained significant traction on social media, sparking public outrage and calls for accountability.
The Bavdhan police have registered the complaint and are investigating the case. No further details about the charges or Chandere’s response have been disclosed at this time.
