Pune: Case Registered Against Four Women for Prostitution and Traffic Obstruction at Navale Bridge
Reported by Tikam Shekhawat
Narhe, 4th January 2025: A case has been filed at the Sinhagad Road police station, Pune City Police, against four women allegedly involved in prostitution at the Navale Bridge area along the Mumbai-Bangalore highway.
Two months ago, the Sinhagad Road police had conducted a crackdown on similar activities in the area. However, local residents recently reported that the issue had resurfaced. The women were allegedly obstructing traffic and making obscene gestures in the area. Following these complaints, a new case was registered against them for their involvement in these activities.
Over the past few months, citizens living in the vicinity of Navale Bridge had raised concerns about the women stopping along the road and engaging in prostitution, particularly on the service road near the bridge. This had reportedly led to harassment of women and girls in the area.
In response to earlier complaints, the police had taken action two months ago, apprehending eight women engaged in similar activities. After that, the situation temporarily improved, with the women reportedly refraining from stopping in the area. However, recent complaints suggest that the women have resumed their activities.
Police Sub-Inspector Suresh Jayabhaye is leading the investigation into this ongoing issue.
