Pune : Case Registered Against Unknown People For Placing Boulders On Railway Track

Chinchwad 7th Oct 2023: The railway authorities in Pune have lodged a case against unknown people for placing boulders on the railway track to further cause danger for the movement of trains between Pune and Mumbai. A case in this regard has been registered at Chinchwad Police Station under relevant sections.

The boulders were found placed on the railway track near Akurdi Station on Friday afternoon by the senior section engineer and trackmen of the railways during the routine maintenance. A case under section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 150 (1) (a) of the Indian Railways Act was registered on Saturday. It is mentioned in the complaint that the big boulders were placed by some anti-social elements with an intention to cause danger to the railway and its passengers travelling from Pune towards Mumbai.

According to the railway officials, the boulders were first observed by guard Sandeep Bhalerao of down Lonavala-Pune local train no. 01561. He informed this to station master of Chinchwad Mathew George. The Station Master informed the Loco pilot of 16352 UP Nagarcoil-CSMT Express as the train was scheduled to pass from the spot after some time. The loco pilot MV Pavalkar and guard of 16352 DK Verma were given instructions to move with caution. The male express passed safely after removal of boulders.

The alertness of the railway staff averted a major incident on the railway line between Pune and Mumbai and saved the lives of many passengers.
