PUNE – CBI ARRESTS TWO SUPERINTENDENTS OF GST IN A BRIBERY CASE OF Rs. ONE LAKH
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested two Superintendents posted at the GST office, Pune (Maharashtra) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. One lakh from the complainant.
A case has been registered against the two Superintendents of GST, Pune u/s120-B of IPC and Section 7 of PC Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on a complaint. It was alleged in the complaint that both the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. Three lakh from the complainant for settling the Service Tax liability for the Financial Year 2016-17. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. One lakh from the complainant, as first instalment of the total bribe amount of Rs. Three lakh.
Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of both the accused at Pune. During the searches, documents regarding acquisition of moveable and immoveable properties, gold jewelleries, cash, computer hard disks and other incriminating documents were recovered.
Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Pune.
