Pune: CCTV Captures Stray Dog Attack on Child in Kirkatwadi; Residents Demand Urgent Civic Action
Kirkatwadi, 20th February 2026: A child narrowly escaped serious injury after being surrounded by a pack of stray dogs inside a residential society in Kirkatwadi, an incident that has reignited concerns over the rising stray dog menace in the city.
The episode occurred within the premises of Chaitrangan Society, where the child was reportedly playing when several stray dogs suddenly ran towards him. CCTV footage shows the dogs encircling the frightened child within seconds as he screamed for help.
In a timely intervention, a young man present nearby rushed to the spot, lifted the child in his arms and carried him away from the dogs, averting what residents described as a potentially serious incident. The video of the episode has since circulated widely on social media, drawing strong reactions.
The incident has triggered anxiety among parents in the locality, many of whom say they are now reluctant to allow their children to play outdoors. Residents claimed that repeated complaints have been submitted to civic authorities regarding the growing number of stray dogs in the area.
