Pune, 27th November 2025: The long-neglected Yashwin Society Road in Sus is finally seeing repairs after persistent pressure from local residents, who organised a unique digital protest to draw attention to the deteriorating stretch.

The road, which runs between Vibgyor School and Neelanchal Society, had been riddled with potholes, uneven surfaces, and heavy dust, causing daily hardships for commuters, schoolchildren, senior citizens, and two-wheeler riders. Despite the monsoon ending over two months ago, the damage remained unaddressed, raising health concerns, including dust allergies, respiratory discomfort, and back pain. Frequent movement of heavy vehicles had further worsened the situation.

Frustrated by the lack of response to repeated complaints, residents staged a 15-minute coordinated online protest on 21 November, simultaneously sending hundreds of WhatsApp messages to PMC officials, from the Junior Engineer to the Chief Engineer, demanding uniform resurfacing of the entire stretch.

Residents emphasised that their protest was a peaceful appeal for basic civic amenities, pointing out that timely payment of taxes had not translated into proper infrastructure maintenance.

Following this collective effort, the PMC commenced repair work on 27 November, bringing relief to residents. They expressed gratitude to the civic body and local media, particularly Pune Pulse, for highlighting the issue and ensuring a timely response.

This development highlights how citizen-led digital campaigns are becoming effective tools for holding authorities accountable and accelerating overdue civic interventions.
