Pune: Citizens Paid Rs 171 Crore As Property Tax In Last 28 Days

Pune, 30th April 2021: In just 28 days after the start of the financial year, the residents of the city have paid Rs 171 crore in the form of property tax. The revenue has doubled this year as compared to last year.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), had received Rs 87.16 crore from property tax in the same period last year, this year it is doubled.

The financial year of the corporation starts in April. Between April 1st and April 28th last year, 94,482 property owners had paid only Rs 87.16 crore in the form of taxes. This year, however, 1.58 lakh property owners have paid property tax of Rs 171.05 crore during the same period. During the period from April 1 to September 30 last year, 4.77 lakh property owners had paid Rs 434.19 crore as tax.

PMC has decided to give a 15%  discount on all taxes except government tax after paying the current year’s property tax till the end of May 30, 2021. That is why in 28 days, the citizens took advantage of the concession by paying a large amount of property tax. Citizens should pay property tax before May 30th to avail of the concession.

Vilas Kanade, Head of Taxation and Tax Collection said, “It has been decided to give 15 percent relief in the current year’s property tax excluding government tax to the property owners who co-operate with PMC by paying the tax on time even during the Coronavirus period. It has received a good response from the citizen. More and more property owners should take advantage of this scheme by paying taxes before May 30th.”
