Pune 8th August 2023: Citizens from various parts of the city have joined hands to organise a protest march to raise their concerns about the civic issues in the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation. Under the banner of ‘Chalo PMC’, the citizens will move towards the PMC building on Wednesday to demand basic facilities in their areas.

“PMC has a budget of around Rs 10,000 Crore a year which comes to around Rs 30 Crore a day. This is the richest municipal corporation of the country. Unfortunately, even after spending over Rs 1 Lakh Crore of tax money in the last 10 years we still have untreated garbage, untreated sewage. Besides, Pune is in one of the top 50 most polluted cities in the world. Hence this is the time we should ask Pune Municipal Corporation as to what they are doing with our money” one of the organisers of the protest march said.

“We are expecting to reach about a million people with this movement and we are expecting to gather signatures of thousands of citizens. Housing Societies Federation and all other societies are backing us in this protest” he said.

The shortage of water supply in the recently merged villages, bad condition of road and pollution are among the few issues that citizens will be raising with the Pune Municipal Corporation during their protest. The protest march is scheduled to start at around 10 am from Mangala Theatre near the PMC building.
