Pune : CNG Price Hike: CNG Crosses Rs 100, New Rate of Rs 100.50 Per Kg Effective From 7th October
Pune, 7th October 2026: Pune residents are set to face another increase in their daily transportation expenses as the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in the city has been increased by ₹2 per kg. Following the hike, CNG will now cost ₹100.50 per kg in Pune.
The revised price will come into effect from midnight on 7th October and will apply across Pune city as well as the rural areas covered by the revised pricing.
Direct impact on motorists and auto-rickshaw drivers
The increase is expected to directly affect owners and drivers of CNG-powered cars, auto-rickshaws and other vehicles.
CNG is widely used by auto-rickshaw drivers and motorists in Pune. With fuel prices already adding to the cost of daily travel, the latest increase is likely to further raise monthly expenses for people who depend on CNG vehicles regularly.
For commuters who use their vehicles every day, even a ₹2-per-kg increase can add to their monthly fuel bills depending on their daily distance and vehicle mileage.
Will auto-rickshaw fares increase?
The CNG price hike has also raised questions over whether auto-rickshaw fares and other public transport costs in Pune could increase.
Auto-rickshaw drivers are among the major users of CNG, and any increase in fuel costs can put additional pressure on their operating expenses. However, there has been no official announcement yet regarding an immediate revision of auto-rickshaw fares following the latest CNG price increase.
The possibility of a fare revision is likely to be closely watched by both auto-rickshaw drivers and passengers.
Commuters face another cost burden
The latest increase comes at a time when Pune residents are already dealing with rising household and transportation expenses.
Private vehicle owners who rely on CNG will now have to spend more on fuel, while commercial drivers could see their daily operating costs rise further.
The increase could have a wider impact if higher operating costs are eventually reflected in fares charged by auto-rickshaws and other transport services.
New CNG rate in Pune
With the latest ₹2-per-kg increase:
Previous CNG price: ₹98.50 per kg
Increase: ₹2 per kg
New CNG price: ₹100.50 per kg
New rate effective: From midnight on 7th October 2026
Coverage: Pune city and rural areas
With CNG now crossing the ₹100 mark, motorists and auto-rickshaw drivers will be closely watching whether the latest fuel price increase leads to further increases in transportation costs across Pune.
