Pune: CNG Shortage in Warje Leads to Traffic Snarls, Frustrated Commuters

Pune, 30th June 2025: A persistent shortage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at fuel stations in Warje has left commuters and residents grappling with massive queues and severe traffic congestion over the past several days.
Two major CNG stations located on the highway service road in Warje draw large numbers of vehicles daily due to their strategic location for highway commuters. However, with supplies running low, drivers have been forced to wait in line for hours, with queues spilling onto main roads and causing traffic chaos.
“My auto-rickshaw is rented, and I have to pay a daily fee to its owner. Waiting two to three hours every day just to refill eats into my time and earnings,” complained one local driver.
Fuel station staff attributed the delays to a combination of online fueling systems and air pressure issues, which have slowed gas flow.
“Sometimes, the online fueling mechanism is affected by air pressure fluctuations, making refueling slower and increasing wait times. We have raised the issue with the gas distribution company, and the situation should improve in the next couple of days,” said Santosh Choudhary, manager at Choudhary Petroleum.
