Pune, 11th January 2023: District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh inaugurated the Road Safety Week 2023 organised by the Office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO). It is being implemented from 11th to 17th January.
Pune RTO Dr Ajit Shinde, Superintending Engineer of Public Works Department Bappa Bahir, Deputy RTO Sanjeev Bhor, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Anant Bhosle, Amar Desai and Yuvraj Patil were present.
Dr Deshmukh stated that Road Safety Week should not be restricted to a single week; instead, numerous programs should be held throughout the year to raise public awareness. The Public Works Department should find out the accident-prone areas in the district and repair them. While massive road development works are going on in the country, the number of accidents is also significant.
Collector Dr Deshmukh urged citizens to follow traffic laws and wear seatbelts and helmets while travelling.
The motorcycle rally started from the collector’s office and went via Camp, Pulgate, Swargate, Sarasbaug, Tilak Road, Lakdi Bridge, Fergusson College Road, Agricultural College, and Sancheti Hospital and concluded at the RTO.
