Pune: College Student Arrested For Controversial Social Media Post; Remanded To Police Custody

Kondhwa, 12th May 2025: A college student has been arrested by the Kondhwa Police for circulating controversial content on social media. First-Class Judicial Magistrate Dr. GR Dornalpalle has ordered her to be kept in police custody for five days.
In light of the ongoing conflict situation between India and Pakistan, police have been closely monitoring social media for messages that could stir tensions or spread rumors.
The incident came to light when Constable Subhash Jaranade at the Kondhwa Police Station noticed a message shared by the young woman on social media Friday (9th May) afternoon. The message was deemed objectionable, leading to her arrest later that night.
The arrested individual was presented in court on Saturday. Government Adv Vijay Singh Jadhav argued for police custody, stating that the mobile phone used by the young woman needed to be seized for further investigation. The court then issued an order to hold her in police custody for five days.
