Pune: Construction Site in Keshavnagar Targeted for Extortion; Four Booked
Pune, 11th September 2026: The Mundhwa police have registered a case against four persons for allegedly demanding extortion from a construction site in Keshavnagar and threatening the complainant and a site supervisor with death if the demand was not fulfilled.
The accused have been identified as Akshay Ghule (28), Meghraj Ghadge, Hemraj Fadtare and their unidentified associates.
According to the complaint filed by Ranjit Dattatray Jawalkar (29), a resident of Darekarwadi in Shirur taluka, the accused allegedly visited the construction site of Purvakara Builders on Kalyani Bungalow Road on two occasions.
The first incident allegedly occurred between 2 am and 5 am on September 7, while the accused reportedly returned to the site at around 1 am on September 8.
As per the complaint, the accused arrived in a four-wheeler and allegedly threatened Jawalkar and site supervisor Naeem Shaikh. They allegedly demanded a percentage of the construction work as a condition for allowing construction activities to continue.
The accused allegedly told them, “If you want to work here, you will have to pay a percentage,” and further threatened to kill them if they were found at the site again.
Based on Jawalkar’s complaint, the Mundhwa police registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of law.
The police have launched an investigation into the alleged extortion demand and death threats and are verifying the circumstances of the incidents.
