Pune: Container Truck Rams Pickup Near Navale Bridge, 22-Year-Old Dead
Narhe, 4th May 2026: A 22-year-old man died, and another was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the Mumbai–Bengaluru National Highway (NH-4) near Navale Bridge in Narhe, Pune, on Monday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:05 am near Hotel Pigara on the Mumbai-bound carriageway on the Mumbai-Bangalore Highway. According to police, a container truck (MH 04 MH 6303) driven by Imran Abdul Jamadar rammed into a pickup vehicle (MH 42 AQ 6142) from behind at high speed, allegedly due to rash and negligent driving.
The impact proved fatal for the pickup driver, identified as Mahadev Uttam Shende (22). Another occupant, Sumit Dattu Kamble (22), a resident of Kavkute in Indapur taluka, sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital on Sinhagad Road for treatment.
Following the initial collision, the pickup vehicle also hit another Tata Eicher vehicle (MH 46 DC 3799), resulting in a chain accident involving three vehicles.
Police from Narhe Police Station shifted all the vehicles to the roadside to restore traffic flow on the busy highway stretch. The injured man’s statement is being recorded, and further investigation is underway.
Senior Police Inspector Asaram Shete confirmed the details and said appropriate legal action will be taken in connection with the incident.
