Pune Court Grants 14-Day Judicial Custody to Manorama Khedkar for Threatening Farmers

Pune, 22nd July 2024: Manorama Khedkar, the mother of probationary Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Puja Khedkar, has been granted 14 days of judicial custody by a Pune court. She was arrested for threatening farmers in Mulshi. The Pune Police seized a pistol and ammunition from her bungalow following her arrest by the Pune Rural Police.

After being held in police custody twice, each time for two days, Khedkar has now been remanded to judicial custody. She may be transferred to Yerawada Central Jail.

Her lawyers are preparing to apply for bail. The case involves seven individuals, including Manorama Khedkar and her husband Dilip Khedkar. Dilip Khedkar has been granted anticipatory bail until 25th July under certain conditions. The remaining five individuals implicated in the case have not yet been arrested.
