Pune Court Rejects Bail Plea of Man Accused of Raping Woman After Allegedly Claiming to Be ‘Incarnation of God’

Pune, 28th August 2026: A Pune court has rejected the bail application of Radhmohan Mishra, who is accused of raping a highly educated woman after allegedly claiming to be an incarnation of God.

Mishra had sought bail on medical grounds and also claimed that his arrest was illegal. However, Additional Sessions Judge H.K. Bhalerao rejected the application, observing that the accused’s medical condition was stable and that the records indicated he had been informed of the reasons for his arrest.

A case has been registered against Mishra at Kharadi police station under charges of rape and provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act.

According to the prosecution, Mishra and an associate allegedly exploited the religious beliefs of a prominent doctor’s family from Haryana and gradually gained psychological and spiritual influence over them. Mishra allegedly used money belonging to the family to establish a hostel for students in Kurukshetra.

The prosecution alleged that the woman was kept away from her family at the hostel. She was reportedly subjected to physical assault, including being beaten with a stick, allegedly under the pretext of testing her spiritual strength.

Mishra allegedly raped the woman repeatedly and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the abuse, according to the prosecution. The woman subsequently approached Kharadi police and lodged a complaint.

Mishra’s lawyer sought bail citing his health condition and alleged that his arrest was unlawful. Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gehlot opposed the application, arguing that Mishra had been examined by a team of specialist doctors and that the medical report showed his condition was stable.

After considering the medical report and records relating to the arrest, the court rejected Mishra’s bail plea.
