Pune: Covid Positive Woman Dies Of Suicide After Failing To Get Hospital Bed
Pune, 17 April 2021: In a shocking incident a 41-year-old woman died of suicide after she failed to get a bed in the hospital. She had tested positive for Covid-19.
She was advised to get admitted to the hospital, however, the woman and her family failed to get the bed despite trying at various places. Tired of physical and mental torture, the woman took the extreme step of ending her life. The incident took place in Warje Malwadi area of Pune city.
Her husband said, “When she tested positive, the doctor advised us to get admitted to a hospital. But we failed to secure a bed in any of the hospitals. I tried to console her saying that we are going to take every effort to get her bed and for her treatment. But when I woke up the next morning, I saw her hanging to the fan in the room. In the suicide note, she mentioned that she cannot tolerate the pain and thus ending her life.”
Senior police inspector Shankar Khatke, in-charge of Warje Malwadi police station, said that a case of accidental death (AD) has been registered and further investigation is going on.
