Pune: Crime Branch Arrests Two Accused For Supplying Pistols Used To Kill Goon Sharad Mohol

Pune, 11th January 2024: The city was shaken as notorious gangster Sharad Mohol met a brutal end in broad daylight in Sutardara, Kothrud on the afternoon of 5th January. What sets this case apart is the revelation that Mohol’s accomplices orchestrated the crime, casting a shadow over the motive behind this brazen act.

Mohol, a notorious goon with many cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion against him, was fatally shot near his home. The assailant, identified as Munna alias Sahil Polekar, strategically carried out the murder in a busy area, firing three bullets into Mohol’s body.

The entire sequence leading to Mohol’s demise was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, sparking curiosity about Munna’s decision to murder in front of the lens. This chilling footage went viral, intensifying the mystery surrounding the crime.

Investigations unveiled a motive deeply rooted in revenge. Munna aimed to humiliate Mohol by executing the crime in front of his residence, intending to instil terror. The shocking revelation pointed to a personal vendetta, driven by Munna’s desire to avenge his maternal uncle’s insult.

Having spent days with Mohol, Munna gained familiarity with the surroundings through recce. Armed with this knowledge, Munna strategically chose Mohol’s wedding anniversary to carry out the premeditated attack, adding a layer of calculated cruelty to the crime.

The Crime Branch of Pune Police made significant strides in the case by apprehending Dhananjay Maruti Vatkar and Satish Sanjay Shedge, for supplying pistols to the accused.

In a surprising revelation, it was disclosed that Munna and his accomplices had practised shooting three times in Mulshi taluka to ensure accuracy in their planned attack on Mohol. The investigation further exposed the purchase of three pistols and 11 cartridges from a person named Prakash.

Several arrests have been made in connection with the murder case, including Munna Polekar, Namdev Mahipati Kangude, Amit Maruti Kangude, Chandrakant Shahu Shelke, Vinayak Santosh Gavankar, and Vitthal Kisan Gandle.
