Pune: Crime Branch Busts Alleged Prostitution Racket Run From Dwaraka Lodging and Boarding in Ambegaon Budruk, 4 Women Rescued

Pune, 12th May 2026: The Ani-Human Traffikking Unit of Pune city police’s crime branch rescued four women and arrested a man during a raid on a lodge in Ambegaon Budruk on the Pune-Satara Road, where an alleged prostitution racket was being operated, officials said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Human Trafficking and Crime Branch team conducted a raid at “Dwaraka Lodging and Boarding” in Ambegaon Budruk on May 11. Police said the operation was carried out with the help of a decoy customer after verification of the information received.

According to police, four women were rescued from the premises during the raid.

The accused has been identified as Sachin Baburao Gayakwad (28), a resident of Panasare Nagar in Kondhwa and originally from Umarga taluka in Latur district. A case has been registered against him at Ambegaon police station under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

Police said the raid was conducted under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and senior officials of the crime branch.
