Pune: Custody Turns Chaos as Criminal Vandalizes Sahakarnagar Police Station, Injures Cops
Sahakarnagar, 18th July 2025: In a shocking breach of police security, a hardened criminal attacked police personnel and vandalized the Sahakarnagar Police Station late last night, bringing Pune’s law and order situation under intense scrutiny. The incident has sent shockwaves across the city, raising concerns about the safety of the police force and the growing audacity of habitual offenders.
The accused, Rishikesh alias Barkya Londhe, a resident of Taljai Vasahat in Sahakarnagar, was wanted under IPC Section 354 for alleged misconduct. Around 3 AM, police apprehended Londhe, but what followed stunned the department. Upon being brought to the police station, he smashed glass panes, destroyed furniture, and inflicted serious self-harm, despite being in custody and handcuffed.
According to police sources, Rishikesh and his brother Jitendra Londhe were intoxicated at the time. When police attempted to arrest them, they used chili spray to resist. Two officers were injured in the scuffle. Eventually, Rishikesh was arrested and taken to the station — where the mayhem unfolded.
Despite being restrained, Rishikesh launched a violent outburst inside the police station, damaging property and attempting suicide. He was rushed to Sassoon Hospital, where he is currently under treatment. The injured police officers are also being treated at the same facility.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mohite added, “An attack inside a police station is a serious matter. We’ve taken note of it and will ensure strict action against those responsible.”
Senior Police Inspector Rahul Gaud said, “Even after his arrest, the accused exhibited extreme aggression and caused significant damage. We are investigating the incident thoroughly.”
The authorities have launched a detailed investigation. CCTV footage and other evidence from the scene are being collected to piece together the sequence of events and hold the guilty accountable.
