Pune Customs Seizes 57 Kgs of Ganja From Smugglers In Konark Express
Pune, 31st January 2023: On the basis of intelligence that a substantial quantity of Ganja (marijuana), being trafficked from Chhatrapur in Odisha, will be transiting through the jurisdiction of Pune Customs on-board the Konark Express train, a team of officers was rushed from Pune to Solapur Railway Station in the early morning hours of 28th January.
The officers, on the basis of specific intelligence, intercepted and searched three people who de-boarded the train. They were found to be carrying bags containing Ganja. This operation conducted on the intervening night of 28th-29th January resulted in the recovery of 57 kgs of Ganja which was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The three accused have been arrested. Further investigation is going on, said Sachin Ghagare, Deputy Commissioner of Pune Customs Commissionerate.
