Pune: Cyclist Priyanka Jadhav Set To Ride Once Again

Pune, 9th April 2021: Pune-based, ace-cyclist Priyanka Jadhav (18), who has won national and international level cycling competitions for the last seven years, is once again set to bring laurels to the city and the state as her wish to participate in the National Road Championship in November will come true with all new racing bicycle.

Priyanka who lost her father about 6 years ago and who’s economic stability is not in a good state currently has been presented with a racing bicycle for the competition by Aniruddha Deshpande, well known sports enthusiast, organizer of various sports events in the state and the recipient of the Symbiosis Krida Bhushan award.

Priyanka, an international level cyclist who has participated in various competitions has set a record by winning 7 gold medals, 7 silver medals and a gold medal at the National Track Championship 2016 held in Kerala due to her excellent training and guidance.

With such feats, she had received admission in the sports training camp in Delhi, where she had been staying for the past one year. However, after returning to Pune, she found herself in impoverished condition so much so that she could not even afford a bicycle and was left without training. Considering her condition, Amanora Yess Foundation led by Aniruddha Deshpande gifted her with an ultramodern bicycle needed for the championship to encourage her and to help pursue her dreams.

Named ‘Cervelo P3’, the racing bicycle is priced at around Rs.5 Lakh and is equipped with stem 3T alloy, handle bar zip alloy, Clip on extension 3T alloy, Break Lever Sram, 11 Speed Shifter Sram, Brake Caliper Sram Force, Saddle fizik, BB Right Cervelo, Crank Sram Force, FD Sram Force, RD Sram Force, Chain Sram of PC 1130, Cassette Sram of PG 1130, Wheels Vittoria Allusion Alloy Perfect for technical features such as rubberized Vittoria Tires and Tube Vittoria. The bicycle is suitable for special competitions and is also complementary to international competitions and can be used for the next 4-5 years.

Expressing her feelings over the gift, Priyanka said, “Before, when I was in a government camp, I used to get bicycles and guidance from there. But after getting out from there, the practice was interrupted due to a lack of a proper bicycle. Now with the help of Aniruddha Deshpande, I got a personal bicycle. I want to bring a lot of joy to the city of Pune with my performance in the upcoming national competition.”

Aniruddha Deshpande said, “Quality students in rural areas have perseverance. I believe that if such girls are provided with the necessary help, they can do well in sports and education. The Amanora Yes Foundation is working to bridge the social divide.”
