Pune Dahi Handi 2026: Shivarkar Road in Wanowrie Closed, Check Alternate Routes

Pune, 5th September 2026: Pune motorists travelling through Wanowrie will face a temporary traffic restriction on Saturday, September 5, as traffic arrangements have been made in view of Dahi Handi celebrations.

According to the traffic advisory issued by the Wanowrie Traffic Police, traffic movement on Shivarkar Road near Samvidhan Chowk and Kedari Nagar will be stopped temporarily to facilitate the celebrations.

Motorists travelling from Samvidhan Chowk have been advised to take a left turn towards Sungrace School and proceed via Salunke Vihar Road to reach their destinations.

The restriction is expected to affect commuters using Shivarkar Road and nearby stretches during the festival. Motorists have been asked to follow the diversion route and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed in the area.

The traffic police have also issued basic road safety instructions for motorists during the celebrations. Car occupants have been advised to wear seat belts, while two-wheeler riders have been asked to wear helmets. Motorists have also been urged not to use mobile phones while driving and to follow the prescribed speed limit of 40 kmph.

The temporary traffic arrangements are part of wider restrictions being implemented across Pune for Janmashtami and Dahi Handi celebrations on September 4 and 5. Several roads and junctions across the city are being regulated or diverted depending on crowd movement and local conditions.

Commuters travelling through Wanowrie are therefore advised to plan their journeys in advance and use the designated alternate route to avoid delays.
