Pune: Daund Railway Station to Undergo Electronic Interlocking Work, Train Services Disrupted
Pune, 25th June 2024: Electronic interlocking work is scheduled to be conducted at Daund Railway Station in the Pune division next month. This work will require a seven-day power block, leading to the cancellation of trains traveling to and from Mumbai in South India, including the Pune-Solapur intercity. The date for the work on the main line in the Pune-bound yard at Daund station has not yet been finalized. Senior railway officials have indicated that the work is likely to take place in the first or second week of July.
According to the Departmental Notification Circular (DCN) prepared for this project, approximately 20 trains will be canceled daily, while routes for another 20 trains will be diverted. This disruption will significantly impact service on the Solapur-Pune-Mumbai route. Among the affected trains are the afternoon intercity services between Pune and Solapur, which will remain canceled during the block period. Several key trains originating from South India will also face cancellation or rerouting, with some rerouted via Kurduwadi and Latur, causing delays.
Despite the work primarily affecting the yard at Daund station, operations on the Daund chord line will also be disrupted, with services suspended for a day. Additionally, all 28 trains operating between Pune and Manmad will be canceled for a day, resulting in considerable inconvenience for passengers.
