Pune: Deccan College Postgraduate and Research Institute conducts various activities under ‘Wachan Sankalp Maharashtracha’ Initiative

Yerwada, 21st January 2025: Deccan College has implemented various activities under ‘Wachan Sankalp Maharashtracha’ Initiative from 30th December 2024 to 15th January 2025 to attract the students towards books and reading who have been away from reading in the recent times. The University Library organized an exhibition of books on Reading (Art, Skills, Teaching, Learning, Challenges) which was open to visitors from 30 December 2024 to 15 January 2025.

Various programs were jointly organized by the University Library and the Deccanite Bookies Reading Club established under the National Service Scheme. As such, a workshop on reading skills was organized in the university on 1st January 2025. Experts, Prof. K. Paddaya and Shri. Gopal Joge, guided the participants in this workshop. On this occasion, a group reading activity was also successfully conducted on the lawn in the courtyard of the main building.

A dialogue session between authors and readers was organized on 7th January 2025. In this Dr. Uday Kulkarni and Dr. Kedar Phalke, the Historical book writers, were invited for discussion. Dr. Shantanu Vaidya played the role as program moderator in this session. A book review and narration competition was also organized in the university. On January 16, 2025, the book reviews submitted were narrated by the contestants orally. Mr. Gopal Joge and Dr. Sambhaji Jadhav were the first judges of this competition. The best three winners have been selected from this competition and will be awarded on 26th January 2025.

The Librarian Dr. Trupti More and National Service Scheme Program Officer Shri. Nilesh Jadhav successfully implemented this activity in the university under the guidance of Prof. Prasad Joshi, Acting Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Sonal Kulkarni-Joshi, Academic Dean. The Registrar, Mrs. Anita Sonawane provided full support for this activity. All these programs received participation and spontaneous response from students and staff. Devashree Banerjee, a student, did anchoring of all the programs.
