Pune: Deccan Police Arrest Domestic Helper, Recover Stolen Jewellery Worth Rs 30 Lakh
Pune, 10th July 2026: The Deccan Police have arrested a 59-year-old domestic helper for allegedly stealing gold and silver jewellery worth approximately Rs 30 lakh from his employer’s residence and recovered the entire stolen property.
The accused has been identified as Shahaji Laxman Dhobale, a resident of Janawadi, Pune.
According to the police, Dhobale was employed as a domestic worker for the last seven months at the complainant’s residence on Apte Road in Shivajinagar. He allegedly stole around 20 tolas of gold and silver ornaments from a cupboard in the room of the complainant’s elderly mother.
Based on the complaint, the Deccan Police registered a case under Crime Register No. 147/2026 and the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following the registration of the case, a team from the Deccan Police Station launched an investigation and tracked down the accused. During interrogation, Dhobale allegedly confessed to the theft and was formally arrested on July 10, 2026. He is currently lodged in judicial custody.
Police recovered the entire stolen property, comprising approximately 20 tolas of gold and silver jewellery valued at around ₹30 lakh.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajesh Bansode, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Krushikesh Rawale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Vishrambaug Division) Anuja Deshmane.
The investigation was supervised by Senior Police Inspector Runal Mulla and Police Inspector (Crime) Sapna Devtale of Deccan Police Station.
The team involved in the investigation and recovery included Police Sub-Inspector Ajay Bhosale and police personnel Dattatray Shinde, Prashant Pawar, Rajendra Marne, Sachin Gaikwad, Sagar Ghadge, Wasim Siddiqui, Mahesh Kale, Sanjay Dandgule, Swapnil Gaikwad, and Police Constable Dhanashree Supekar.
