Pune: Dengue Larvae Found in 2,261 Houses in Pimpri Chinchwad; Rs 6.19 Lakh Fine Recovered
Pimpri Chinchwad, 26th August 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s health department has detected dengue larvae in 2,261 houses and issued notices to 248 establishments after an extensive container survey. A fine of Rs 6.19 lakh has been recovered in the past three months.
Officials said the drive aims to curb the spread of dengue and malaria. Teams inspected 1.94 lakh properties and checked over 14.52 lakh containers till June. Larvae were found in 2,428 containers. Notices have been served and penalties imposed, including Rs 1,000 on residential premises, Rs 2,000 on commercial units, and up to Rs 10,000 on malls, hospitals and ongoing construction sites.
Health officials warned citizens against storing water in flower pots, fridge trays, tyres, broken utensils and similar spots, urging them to empty and clean such containers at least once a week.
“Citizens should not store water unnecessarily. Observe one ‘dry day’ a week and keep clean water containers free of dengue larvae,” said Dr Pradeep Tengale, Deputy Commissioner, Health Department.
“Due to changing weather, cold, cough, body ache and fever are common. If fever or respiratory symptoms appear, do not ignore them. Seek advice at the nearest municipal dispensary or hospital,” said Dr Lakshman Gofane, Municipal Health Medical Officer.
Dengue cases are climbing in the city amid weather fluctuations, cold, cough and other seasonal illnesses. So far, 19 malaria and 40 dengue-positive cases have been recorded. Continuous rains and the city’s drainage issues are contributing to the rise, officials said.
