Pune: Develop Air And Water Transportation At Ujani Dam- MP Supriya Sule
Baramati, 18th March 2021: Member of parliament Supriya Sule has demanded to develop air and water transport facility at the Ujani dam in the Pune district. She has written a letter to central transportation minister Hardeep Singh Puri in this regard.
Sule said, “The ‘Z’ shaped Ujani water body is specious and deep enough and can be efficiently utilized for air and water transportation. The weather is favorable here for air transportation. Hence, it will be easy for the aircraft to take-off and land at this place. The dam is situated 125 km from Pune airport in Lohegaon and far away from Bhigwan bird sanctuary.
It will provide good connectivity to the cities like Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad, and Kolhapur. Religious places like Tuljapur, Pandharpur, and Kolhapur are nearer to this water body; therefore, it can get a good response from the people.
“I have requested minister Puri to include this site under ‘Udan- regional connectivity scheme.’ We are expecting a positive response from the central government”, said Sule.
