Pune: District Collector Issues Guidelines for Kerosene Distribution, Allocation Set at 3 Litres per Family

Pune, 13th April 2026: The district collector of Pune has issued guidelines for the distribution of kerosene for March 2026, under which each beneficiary family will be entitled to 3 litres per ration card.

The officials of the district administration said that while priority will be given to the ration card holders and those registered under the Antyodaya scheme, kerosene will also be distributed to white ration card holders, families without ration cards (on submission of a gram panchayat certificate), and migrant workers.

Officials said the entire allotted quota must be lifted within 45 days from the date of distribution, and any unutilised stock will not be carried forward.
The distribution will be carried out in phases through oil company distributors, licensed retailers or fair price shop owners, and beneficiaries. Each beneficiary must receive 3 litres, with rates to be fixed by the district collector.

Oil companies have been directed to ensure uninterrupted supply, with at least 85% of the allocated kerosene to be made available in the first two weeks. At the taluka level, distribution will be monitored by tehsildars, while joint inspection teams comprising tehsildars, supply officers and police personnel will be deployed to prevent misuse.

Authorities have clarified that kerosene is to be used strictly for domestic purposes. Any cases of adulteration or unauthorised sale will attract action under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The administration has urged all concerned to ensure strict implementation of the guidelines.
