Pune: District Collector Orders Strict Implementation Of ‘Copy-Free Board Exams’

Pune, 15th February 2023: The District Collector of Pune, Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, has ordered the implementation of a copy-free campaign to prevent malpractices in the upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Class 12th) and Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class 10th) conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. 

The decision was announced at a meeting held at the District Collector’s Office of the District Level Vigilance Committee, which was established to prevent malpractices in examinations. The Resident Deputy Collector, Himmat Kharade, Secondary Education Officer, Sunanda Wakhare, and other officials were present at the meeting.

According to Dr. Deshmukh, flying squads should be appointed in the district for copy-free examination and to prevent malpractice. These squads should be instructed to make random visits to any examination center and check. Additionally, taluka level additional teams of Tehsildar and Block Development Officer should be made operational, and video filming of examination proceedings should be done as required. The police force should also be deployed at the examination center as required, and every student should be thoroughly screened before entering the examination centre.

Boys should be checked by Police Patil, Kotwal, school staff and girls sould be checked by Anganwadi workers, and female school staff. Unauthorized persons should not be allowed to enter the examination center premises. Examination centers should be classified as highly sensitive, sensitive, general, and extra care should be taken accordingly.

HSC, SSC Exam schedule

For the year 2022-23, the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Class 12th) will be held from 21st February to 21st March 2023, and the Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class 10th) will be held from 2nd March to 25th March 2023. In the district, 1 lakh 31 thousand 315 students from 888 schools will appear for the Higher Secondary Certificate examination at 191 examination centers, and 1 lakh 34 thousand 330 students from 1 thousand 694 schools will give the examination at 280 examination centers for the secondary school certificate examination. There are a total of 471 examination centers in which 233 are in urban areas and 238 in rural areas.

Necessary instructions have been given to the Transport Department and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to continue the uninterrupted power supply during the examination period to take necessary measures for the smooth conduct of the examination and to ensure that the students reach the examination venue on time. A meeting has been held with the heads of all the examination centers in the district, and instructions have been given to them regarding the examination work and strict implementation of the prescribed procedure. The report of examination attendance, absence, malpractice cases will be submitted online daily.

District Level Vigilance Committee to Prevent Malpractices in Examinations

The Vigilance Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Collector to provide police security, visit the examination centers, and maintain law and order at the examination center to prevent malpractices in the examinations. The committee includes the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Commissioner of Police of Pune City and Pimpri Chinchwad, Superintendent of Police of Pune Rural, Education Officer (Primary), Education Officer (Planning), Education Officer (Secondary).

Dr. Deshmukh has appealed to every section of society to cooperate in conducting the examination of class 12th and 10th in a copy-free environment. It is important to prevent malpractices and ensure a fair and transparent examination. The implementation of such measures is necessary to ensure the integrity of the examination process and prevent any kind of malpractice. Any violation of the rules will be dealt with strictly under the law.
