Pune, October 19, 2020: An advocate who was kidnapped from the district court in Shivajinagar over a fortnight ago was found murdered at the Tamhini ghat. The Pune police have arrested three accused in the case.

The deceased identified as advocate Umesh Chandrashekhar More (33), a resident of Balajinagar, was abducted from the Shivajinagar district court on October 1. His brother had lodged a missing person complaint on October 2 as his whereabouts were not known for several hours. Later, the Pune Bar Association (PBA) members also met the police commissioner and demanded a thorough probe in the case.

Addressing a press conference today, Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta said that it appears that More has been murdered due to a land dispute case. To destroy all evidence of the murder, the accused burnt his body in Tamhini ghat.

The arrested accused have been identified as advocate Rohit Shende (32) of Market Yard, Kapil Falke (34) of Chikhli, Pune, and Deepak Wandekar (28) of Ashti in Beed district. The three of them were produced at the court which remanded them to four days police custody for further investigation.

According to police, Shende and Falke were already booked by police for a bribery case and More was the complainant in this case in 2018. It is apprehended that the motive of the murder could also be the conflict amongst the men due to the two years back case.

Senior police inspector Balasaheb Kopnare, police inspector Manisha Zhende, assistant police inspector Sandeep Chauhan, police sub-inspector Kumar Patil and team investigated the case.
