Pune: District Hospital Aundh To Conduct Fire Audit Again

Pune, January 11, 2021: Officials from the district hospital, Aundh, have decided to conduct a fire audit of the hospital again in the backdrop of the incident at Bhandara where 10 infants died recently. Earlier the audit was done by the fire department of Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation (PCMC), said district civil surgeon Dr Ashok Nandpurkar.

The health department officials from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and PCMC are inspecting fire audit reports of the hospitals.

Dr Nandpurkar said, “The hospital has a 24-bed special newborn care unit (SNCU). Currently, 11 infants are getting treated here. A health officer and a resident doctor and two nurses are always present for night shift every day. Cleaning activities are undertaken from time to time in this unit. Regular testing of electrical equipment is been done by electricians and technical experts from the electricity department of the hospital. Earlier the fire audit was done by the PCMC. We have decided to re-audit the fire system and letter was given to the fire department and PWD department of PCMC.”
