Pune Division Recovers Rs 8.42 Crore from 1.52 Lakh Ticketless Travellers in 4 Months

Pune, 7th August 2025: Central Railway has intensified its efforts to curb ticketless travel across its network, including the Pune division, through a series of comprehensive ticket checking drives. These operations were conducted in Mail/Express trains, Passenger trains, Special trains, and Suburban trains as part of the railways’ ongoing initiative to ensure safe and authorized travel.

According to data released by Central Railway, during the financial year 2025–26 (April to July 2025), Pune Division apprehended 1.52 lakh passengers traveling without valid tickets or travel authority and recovered ₹8.42 crore as penalty.

Across the entire Central Railway network, a total of 14.43 lakh ticketless or irregular passengers were caught, resulting in the recovery of ₹86.73 crore, marking a 6.44% increase over the Railway Board’s target of ₹81.48 crore for the same period.

In July 2025 alone, Central Railway teams apprehended 3.08 lakh passengers, up from 1.91 lakh in July 2024—an increase of 62%. The penalty amount collected also saw a sharp rise, with ₹16.00 crore recovered in July 2025 compared to ₹7.97 crore in July 2024, reflecting an increase of over 100%.

Division-wise Penalty Recovery (April–July 2025):

• Bhusaval Division: ₹33.49 crore from 3.85 lakh cases

• Mumbai Division: ₹24.29 crore from 5.73 lakh cases

• Nagpur Division: ₹9.76 crore from 1.56 lakh cases

• Pune Division: ₹8.42 crore from 1.52 lakh cases

• Solapur Division: ₹4.18 crore from 85,000 cases

• Headquarters: ₹6.58 crore from 91,000 cases

Central Railway continues to conduct various types of checks including Station, Ambush, Fortress, Intensive, and Mega Ticket Checking Drives across its divisions to discourage unauthorized travel.
