Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao tests positive for COVID-19

Pune, March 16, 2021: Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao has tested positive for COVID-19. Since the beginning of the COVID-19-induced lockdown, Saurabh Rao has always been at the forefront to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak. Whether it was to set up restricted areas in different places within the Pune Municipal Corporation or whether to decide on different measures to implement the rules, he was always planning visits to these areas directly. He was also at the forefront of the vaccination drive against COVID-19. A few days ago, the divisional commissioner also took the first dose of the vaccine.

After Saurabh Rao became the Divisional Commissioner, many important decisions like planning of the lockdown, and the action plan of PMC’s Health Department have been taken by him during the COVID-19 outbreak in the city.
On Friday, he had attended a meeting with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in this regard. He also held few meetings till Monday. His COVID-19 test was reported to be positive on Tuesday afternoon. Now, all the government officials and police officers, who came in contact with him will be tested for COVID-19 and will be quarantined if required.
